Italian Game

MICOS Opening Group C09.IT – Italian Game begins with 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4. One of the oldest established openings in chess, it combines rapid piece development with direct influence over the centre. By developing the bishop to c4, White places immediate pressure on Black’s vulnerable f7-square while preparing for kingside castling and further central development.

The Italian Game can produce both aggressive tactical play and slower strategic positions depending on how the opening develops. White can pursue early attacking opportunities or build the position gradually through careful piece coordination and central control.
